New Individual Client

My new client entered my office and declared, “I am so happy to be here, I hope I don’t cry!”.  That statement is not unusual, many clients cry, for many different reasons.

So I proceed to steer the conversation back to her taxes.  She has not filed 2009, 2010 or 2011.  I quoted her a price of $300 for all three years including the State returns.

I completed the 2009 tax return and she owed $400 to the IRS and she was getting back $284 from Indiana.  Whew!

I completed the 2010 tax return and she owed $197 to the IRS and she was getting back $285 from Indiana.  Whew, and no tear so far.

I completed the 2011 tax return and she was due a $500 refund from the IRS and $300 back from Indiana.

She could not believe the results, she was exhilarated.  She thought she was going to owe thousands and thousands of dollars and that she would never be able to pay it all back.  The situation worked out wonderfully for her.

Not every tax problem is this easy, but some are, and many don’t have to get anymore complicated than hers.  If you haven’t filed in a while, or if you have received notices, contact me, I can probably help.
